Hi Everyone,
I hope this blog sees you well…sorry that its been a while since my last update, but I just got back from shooting the wedding in Aruba…what an amazing experience…so here is what happened since my last entry.
April 26th – Monique (bride) and Billy (groom) hosted a welcome cocktail reception. Everyone who was invited came along for some hearty hellos and a drink or two or three J…there was a great steel drum player named Niko who kept everyone entertained…I got some great images of everyone having a great time and some dancing even broke out…all in all a great way to kick off the weekend!
April 27th – The day before the wedding. The rehearsal was on the beach and man was it ever hot…its honestly a good thing that I keep in shape because you really do get drained quickly without realizing the heat is right on you…everyone was so excited about kicking things off…the rehearsal was pretty informal and went off without a hitch…everything was at Moomba’s on the beach…and of course everyone had a few drinks before heading off to the rehearsal dinner…The dinner was at the world famous La Tattoria an Italian restaurant located right next to the famous California Lighthouse for those who have been to Aruba…food was amazing…I am some Calamari and some chicken…I took some pics of Monique and Billy handing out some great gifts and watching the laughter continue well into the night…
April 28th – Wedding Day…I have been doing weddings for 10 years and I have never had a chance to witness so many new things in one day…I arrived to Monique’s room at 1:30pm to shoot the getting ready shots…everyone was in such a good mood and you could feel the emotion building up…Billy got Monique a very nice Movado watch as a gift which was very cool. After the getting ready moments we moved down to the back of the hotel to do some quick formal shots of the girls and parents…let me just say that Monique looked incredibly beautiful and all of the bridesmaids and family looked incredible.
Monique was so composed until she reached Billy during the handoff and you could see the tears of joy streaming down…there is nothing…nothing at all like the moment the bride and groom receive each other to begin the ceremony…one of the most powerful and emotional moments that a wedding can have. As Billy kissed Monique to begin husband and wife, Billy gave Monique a great big dip and away we went…
After doing a few formals we headed off for an unusual cocktail hour aboard the Jolly Pirate ship…we did a sunset sail around and there was a rope swing of which many jumped off and had a great time…yours truly also jumped off the rope swing…I always keep things professional, but every great once in a while you have an opportunity to join the crowd literally…
As we got back we rocked the reception into the night and it was a great day overall…
I personally want to thank Monique and Billy for the opportunity to be with them…I want to thank James Tramondo from Davi Weddings for including me in his planning and doing such a great job at it…if you need a wedding planner, please contact James @
http://www.daviweddings.com/. He saved the day a few times literally…I also want to thank every single person whom I met along the way…you are all special people to me and I know I have some lifelong relationships created as a result of this trip…If you are thinking about doing a destination wedding make sure you have the right people helping you in all areas…so hire me :) and James :)
Random thoughts the remainder of the week: I love Pina Colada’s period :)…I did Parasailing during my time…I have done it once before, but it was so windy it felt like a violent plane ride…yikes!...did a dinner cruise on the Tattoo ship…oh, I now have a new cell phone so I am good to go again! I will be posting a few pics later tonight or tomorrow of the trip…so much to do! Next wedding is this Saturday, May 10th…
more images to come...
All my best,
Peter
