Love stories can take time to unfold, and then, like a fairy tale – the details all come together. The day of Diane and Bob’s wedding was a beautiful part of their love story.

There Were so Many Special Details Surrounding the Day

Being a Photographer for NH Images Photography + Video, I have come across some really special stories that leave a lasting impression long after the big day has passed – Diane and Bob’s wedding was one such story. Not only was it such a pleasure to capture the sweet love story between this couple, but the sentimental weight that many of the details carried was truly heartwarming.

Bob wore cufflinks that featured a photo of his children.

Probably the most significant detail was that Diane wore a gown passed down from her mother, a sentimental heirloom with a fascinating story.

Diane’s gown was originally designed and constructed by her uncle, Roger in 1959 for Diane’s mother’s special day. Roger worked for the prestigious Priscilla’s Bridal Shop in Boston – known best for designing a stunning gown for Princess Grace’s wedding.

Below is a direct excerpt from a write-up that Diane prepared for her guests in their church wedding pamplet.

The Wedding Gown

My mother, Olivette (Ollie) was gifted her wedding gown by her brother Roger. Roger became a tailor after serving in WWII. At the time of my parent’s wedding, June of 1959. Roger was working at the prestigious Bridal Shop Priscilla’s of Boston, most notably known for designing the dresses worn at Princess Grace’s wedding. My mother treasured the gown Roger designed and made for her, she especially loved the fact that forty buttons donning the back of the dress were hand sewn. The attention to detail and wonderful craftsmanship made the gown one of her most proud possessions. My mother told me from the time that I could remember that she wanted me to wear her gown when I got married. I don’t think she that it would happen in my mid-fifties but I couldn’t be more proud and honored to fulfill her wish today.

I want to give special thanks to Lena Kasmensky, a member of the “Atelier” (a workshop for artists) team from Musette Bridal in Boston. From the moment I met her, I knew she not only understood the meaning of having a Priscilla’s of Boston Wedding Gown but that the gown’s sentimental value was priceless to me. I can’t thank her enough for the love and care she took cleaning and altering the gown for me.

Of course, I need to also express my eternal gratitude to Uncle Roger for not only giving my mother this timeless gift but for giving it to me as well. I know he’ll be watching from above, right next to my parents and Kim today.

With all my love,
Diane
